In our climate, this selection is ultimately a mid-sized Japanese maple. Emergent foliage is quite beautiful, in the soft orange/yellow range maturing to a light green by the Solstice. Good autumn color, though not as spectacular as some selections. We planted this tree with Acer palmatum 'Orange Dream', as the two nicely comment each other, and provide an antidote to the 'green tsunami', as most plants in the garden are some shade of green.
The trees get morning light, afternoon shade, with supplemental summer watering. Generally, these trees in our region can take drought, when established, but the trees won't get as tall and in a hot, windy spot leaf burn can occur.
