Asplenium scolopendrium 'Angustifolia'

Common Name:

Ruffled Hart's Tongue Fern

Early Spring

Station 11 - Curator's Garden

This evergreen fern (native to the UK) is such an elegant addition to our shady 'green garden' situated on the north side of the curator's residence. We sited it within a rockery, where the angled stonework channels water to the roots, as this plant loves moisture.

To ensure summertime happiness, we spritz the area three to four times a week, as this plant does NOT want to dry out.
If happy, it will spore in elsewhere, and always in the right place. Be careful of siting this plant near a large conifer, as root weevils love to chew on fern fronds!
