Paeonia 'Late Windflower' is a cross between two species, originating in 1939. This beautiful, fleeting hybrid is in the curator's garden. We brought this plant with us from our old garden. Single flowered peonies perform well in the Pacific Northwest, due to the fact that they can recover more readily from a downpour than a voluptuous double variety that will fill with rain water and fall over. Peonies benefit from full sun and good air circulation, something this garden lacks. However, where we have sited it seems to suit this peony just fine.
