Rhododendron schlippenbachii is commonly called the 'Royal Azalea'. This deciduous azalea flowers in April for two to three weeks. One can find forms of it in either white or soft lavender. Native to Korea, parts of China and Russia, this woodland plant has grown for many years in Ed's garden. Make sure to not plant this in a windy area as the petals are quite thin. Good fall color adds seasonal interest. We have found these plants to be rather drought tolerant when established (if in a shaded location).
